Adolescent Programs

adolescent Compass Center for Women and Families offers the following programs for adolescents:

Teens Climb High (TCH) is a sexual health education program presented in Chapel Hill- Carrboro City schools. TCH provides participants with a comprehensive, evidence-based curriculum, Making Proud Choices!, aimed at providing students support to make positive life choices and avoid teen pregnancy. TCH presents factual sexual health information in an inclusive, trauma-informed format that emphasizes empowerment and consent.


  • Classroom sessions: Eighth-grade students participate in an 8-day intensive session of sexual health education during their school health classes.
  • WIN sessions: Eighth-grade girls participate in twice weekly group sessions that focus on health and comprehensive sexuality education, healthy relationships, communication, decision-making skills, and goal-setting, and consent.
  • Individual and Family Support: TCH staff members maintain regular contact with families and school personnel to help parents and students connect with community resources. TCH staff also helps increase communication among parents and their children through parent activities and workshops.

Start Strong, our teen dating violence prevention program, is offered to 6th and 8th grade health education classrooms in the Chapel Hill/Carrboro school district middle schools and at Saint Thomas More School.
